Space is always fun to paint and I was able to create and express a very lively scene.
It takes a lot of time and patience to create works like this. The drying times in between pieces can be managed by thinking a few steps in front of the process.
Placing the pieces on the canvas to determine direction and the design of more pieces yet to be made. I was pretty happy at this point. Everything was coming together really smooth and as fragile as these pieces might look, they are not. I've dropped them on the floor a few times and no damage was done.
Attaching the pieces to the canvas is challenging but just takes focus. The process is explained in the Nesting page.
The surface has been sanded down and is smooth. Everything is rock solid on the surface and has been relentlessly stress tested to make sure it can take the abuse of oil paint being applied to it.
From here it was a matter of getting the idea that was in my head out onto the canvas. I believe it took me longer to get the canvas ready to paint than it actually took to paint it.
